Resize Image to 100KB Online

Resize and optimize your photos to 100 KB or less. Automatically combines quality tuning and proportional dimension reduction to satisfy strict upload requirements.

For NexoPixel's standard browser-based image tools, processing happens locally in your browser. Your files are not uploaded to NexoPixel servers.

How resizing to 100 KB works

Many government job applications, visa portals, college entrance forms, and exam upload systems mandate image files under 100 KB. High-resolution photos from modern smartphones frequently weigh between 3 MB and 10 MB, making them far too large to upload without resizing.

NexoPixel uses an iterative target optimizer. It first tests visual encoding quality levels to reduce file weight. If the image is still above 100 KB at the lowest safe quality floor, NexoPixel automatically scales down dimensions proportionally while preserving the original aspect ratio without distortion.

What happens when quality reduction alone is not enough?

A 24-megapixel photo contains millions of pixels. Even heavily compressed, raw pixel density sets a physical mathematical floor on file size. If quality optimization reaches the minimum visual clarity threshold without hitting 100 KB, NexoPixel activates dimension scaling fallback.

It calculates the exact mathematical scale factor needed, reducing width and height simultaneously so the photo retains its exact proportions while achieving the desired 100 KB target.

Why PNG images behave differently

PNG is a lossless image format that preserves every pixel exactly without compression artifacts. Because standard PNG encoders do not have a lossy quality slider, reducing file size in PNG without format conversion requires reducing pixel dimensions.

If you upload a PNG image, NexoPixel preserves your format without silently converting it to JPEG, but will scale down dimensions to hit the 100 KB threshold.

Accurate target-size expectations

NexoPixel targets an output size at or slightly below 100 KB. Because image compression algorithms rely on discrete mathematical quantization blocks, file sizes cannot be guaranteed to an exact single-byte number.

By default, Strict Target mode ensures the final result never exceeds 100 KB, aiming for the closest safe candidate within safe visual limits.

100% Private in-browser processing

Identity documents, passport photographs, and signatures require uncompromising privacy. NexoPixel processes your image entirely inside your web browser using HTML5 Canvas and Web Workers.

Your files are never transmitted to NexoPixel servers or stored in any remote database.
